Ayumu Inou (伊能歩 Inou Ayumu) is the protagonist of Large PonPon.

Appearance[]

Ayumu is a tall, muscular man with black hair and amber eyes. He's usually seen in his work attire, which consists of a black suit with a white button-up shirt and a purple tie.

Personality[]

While outwardly an average salaryman, Ayumu is implied to have been deeply traumatized and warped by the sexual abuse inflicted on him by his aunt Asagi and her friends. After meeting Tomaru and learning of his relation to him, Ayumu grew very attached to him, being the only known child to not end up hating his father.

Biography[]

Ayumu Inou is the second child of Moegi Inou and Tomaru Sawagoe, as well as the brother of Kagura, Youko, and Moeka. Moegi raised both him and Kagura alone and kept their father's identity secret from everyone. Thus, he and Kagura grew up not knowing that Tomaru was their father until Tomaru met him.

Snow Radish Vacation[]

As Moegi and Kagura would be busy during the time Asagi and her friends would stay over, Ayumu was left in the care of his grandmother.

After Snow Radish Vacation[]

As Ayumu grew older, Asagi lusted after him because she saw Tomaru in him. Ayumu was sexually exploited by Asagi and her friends, siring Midori and Sakura via Asagi, as well as Miki and Taisuke via Asagi's friend, Mrs. Sawanaga. He also became a sex-crazed beast, even to the point of violating his own sister and mother, as well as forcing his nephew Wataru to violate Kagura for rejecting his advances, and eventually forcing another child on Kagura.

Ayumu can be mentioned a few times by Midori during her online chats with A,W. At one point, she mentions that her sister Yukari is breaking up with Ayumu to marry another man, which angers Midori, and she stands up to defend Ayumu.

Summer Radish Vacation[]

Although Ayumu doesn't make an appearance, Kagura mentions to Shun that he is dating Rurika. Kagura is also pregnant with Ayumu's child. She also reveals that their younger sister Youko had developed incestuous feelings for him, which Kagura and their mother circumvented.

A year after Large PonPon, Ayumu and Rurika are reconciled and married, leading the happy life of new parents. However, during the time Rurika was hospitalized, Ayumu had affairs with several other women behind Rurika's back.

One day, Rurika calls him to go with her to visit her boss, Tamie, who had been hospitalized during the last month of her pregnancy. He does so reluctantly, fearing that Rurika has discovered his relationship with Tamie and that he is the father of her child.

Etymology[]

His given name Ayumu (歩) means "a step/stride". His name shares a footwork theme with those of his sisters Kagura and Youko and his sister-niece Mai.
His surname may reference Tadataka Inou, a cartographer known for completing the first map of Japan, OR Kanori Inou, an anthropologist known for his studies in Taiwanese Aborigines.
